MOTORDROME (2010) STREET STOCK DIVISION RULES 1. Frame Must be stock North American production passenger car frame of minimum 108 wheelbase. Must be the same both sides, plus or minus inch tolerance. Frame may not be cut or chopped. Open side of C-section type side rails should be closed with minimum 1/8 steel plate. Factory seams should be fully welded. Uni-body cars must join front and rear frame sections under floor pan with minimum 3 channel or minimum 2x3 square tubing. Absolutely no relocating of any suspension mounting points or X-members permitted. Rust repair of rear frame sections permitted using 1/8 steel plate and must follow exactly the shape, size and direction of stock frame. Frame must be complete and extend from front bumper to rear bumper. 2. Roll Cage Must be of 4 point type constructed steel. All main cage and supports, roof halo and door bars minimum 1-3/4 inches magnetic steel tubing by .090 minimum thickness, all other bars must be a minimum 1-3/4 inches by .083 thickness. All major intersections must be gusseted. A minimum of 4 arched bars on both driver and passenger side of car is required. Rear cage hoop must be X-braced and down supports must extend to rear of main frame. Front hoop must extend outward to radiator and be properly tied to main frame. All roll bars in driver area must be padded. Driver side door cage must be plated with 1/8 steel from top door bar down to frame, from the rear hoop to front pipe down must be welded or bolted to the outside of cage. 3. (a) Front Suspensions. All suspension must be stock components for year, make and model of body being used. Absolutely no modification of suspension parts or locating points permitted. Relocation of shock at each wheel permitted to allow use of a racing shock, provided proper tire clearance is maintained. One weight jack bolt per wheel permitted. One piece sway bar permitted. The minimum frame height is 5 inches. Tubular upper a-arms permitted. (b) Right front hub must be a racing safety type replacement for stock assembly. (c) Rear Suspensions. Must be stock locating arms for year, make and model of body used. Absolutely no modification of locating arms or locating points permitted. Full floater rear ends mounted in stock location may be used. Stock type rear ends must use aftermarket high quality racing axles and retainers. Rear ends must be locked. One rear shock per wheel and may be relocated to allow the use of a racing shock, provided proper tire clearance is maintained. No additional panhard or sway bars permitted. 4. Factory production brake systems only and must be maintained in good working order. No brakes will not be an excuse for on track accidents. Racing type dual master cylinder and brake balance bar assemblies are permitted. Only cast steel brake calipers and rotors are permitted. Rotors must maintain a minimum of inch thickness and cannot be drilled. 5. Steering: Must be of factory production design throughout. Racing replacement center links are permitted. BODY: Minimum roof height 51 with driver in car. 1. Bodies must be of North American production based passenger cars manufactured from 1970 thru 1990. No convertibles, sports cars, Firebird, Camaro, Mustang, station wagons or truck bodies allowed. Bodies must be steel, no aluminum. The use of aftermarket plastic nose pieces and rear bumper covers permitted. Bodies must be of the same wheel base as the frame. 2. Bodies must be gutted on the interior and only one seat may remain. Driver seat must remain in stock location. All glass, with the exception of the windshield, must be removed. Doors must be welded or bolted shut. All openings on exterior of car must be covered over or welded shut. Headlight and tail light openings must be covered over. Grille openings must be covered over with screen in the same configuration as stock grille. Hood and trunk lid must be pinned down with hood pins while running. Wheel openings will be permitted to be trimmed for tire clearance only. All bodies must maintain OEM lines and angles, no body part may be closer than 5 to the ground. No side skirts permitted. No flat sided doors, quarter panels, fenders or rocker panels permitted. 3. (a) A lexan rear window replacement is optional. Front windshield must be replaced with lexan and riveted completely along entire perimeter. Driver side window racing net is mandatory. No spring type window net latches permitted. (b) Complete stock cowl with all openings welded shut required. Handmade sheet metal interior permitted as long as it maintains factory location. 4. A maximum 4 tall lexan rear spoiler permitted. The spoiler must be mounted to and no wider than the deck lid. 5. Easily accessible tow hooks front and rear mandatory. No rear stinger type tow hook allowed. 6. Front and rear bumpers to be mounted as the further most thing forward and rearward on car. Rear bumper fuel cell protector hoop and support bars required. 7. For 2009 Motordrome will allow the use of the 5 Star S2 body as outlined and dimensioned in the catalog. This body may only be mounted to a full stock metric chassis with 108 wheelbase and a maximum tread width of 73 inches. POWER TRAIN: CRATE ENGINE OPTION - SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (1) All crate engines approved for competition must be sealed by the manufacturer or Certified Engine Re-builder (Broughers Machine Shop) and must remain in the as shipped condition. B. APPROVED ENGINES (1) GM Crate Engine part number 88958602. Engine must be run as recommended from the manufacturer with Holley 4150 650 cfm carb part #HP 80541-1. Absolutely no modifications permitted except tuning of jets, power valve, or bleeds and any parts must be original Holley replacement parts. C. CUSTOM BUILT ENGINE 1. Engines. Must be NASCAR recognized small block engines. Maximum engine displacement, General Motors 350 cid plus a maximum .045 overbore, Ford 351 cid plus a maximum .040 overbore, Chrysler 360 cid plus a maximum .030 overbore. No Chrysler 355 cid allowed. No Ford 9.2 blocks allowed. Must be stock cast iron blocks with all standard internal and external dimensions except the allowable maximum overbore. Steel crank and rods only. Minimum crankshaft weight 48 lbs. No modifications to the crankshaft counterweights. Crankshaft must be identical in construction and appearance as OEM crankshaft, minimum rod journal size is 2.100 minus .030.The stroke may not be increased or decreased. Pistons must be 3 ring grooves with 3 rings in place flat tops or dished. No portion of the piston may protrude above the top of the block. Crankshaft must be stock stroke for the engine size being used. Compression ratio may not exceed 10.8/1 as computed by the track KATECH whistler. This is the final word. No dry sump oiling permitted. Engines must be a minimum 350 CID. No coatings permitted on any internal engine parts, including but not limited to ceramic. (a) Exhaust Systems. The exhaust headers must be manufactured using a steel primary tube size of 1-5/8 inches outside diameter to the collector pipe, collector must be a maximum of 3-1/2 inches outside diameter. Muffler required to meet 98 db at 100 feet. Exhaust must exit the body. (b) Cylinder Heads. Cast iron stock heads only, no Vortec style or center mounted valve cover mounting stud style permitted. General Motors may use GM# 10134392 casting #14011034 and GM #3987376 casting #3991492, GM #12480034. General Motors may not use GM 12529093 casting #102339906. Ford may use Dart #5302 and Dart #5304. Ford may not use Ford #M6049-N-351. Chrysler may use W2 cast iron head. All valves must remain identical to stock OEM for head being used. No port matching, polishing, or cleaning up of heads permitted and 2 valves per cylinder only. Only steel valves and valve springs permitted. (c) Flat tappet cams and lifters only permitted. No mushroom, roller, or oversized lifters permitted. Stud mounted roller rocker arms permitted, maximum 1.65 to 1 ratio. (d) Intake Manifold. Listed below is the only approved intake manifold permitted. These manifolds must remain as manufactured. No port matching or grinding or polishing permitted. Manifolds may not be painted. All part numbers are Edelbrock Performer Series intake manifolds: Chevrolet #2101 Chrysler #2176 #P5239572 Ford Ford Ford Ford Cleveland Head with Windsor Block B&A Ford performance part #201 Ford Dart #5302 #2181 (e) Following is listed the only carburetor permitted: Holley 2300 two-barrel carburetor model number #7448 Holley 2300 HP Part #80787-1 with a venture size of 1-3/16 inches and maintaining a throttle bore maximum size of 1-1/2 inches. The rework guidelines for Holley 2300 series carburetor are as follows: (1) Body of Carbs - No polishing, grinding, or drilling of holes permitted. (2) Choke Horn Choke horn may not be removed. (3) Boosters Boosters may not be changed. Size or shape must not be altered. Height must remain standard. (4) Venturi Venture area must not be altered in any manner. Casting ring must not be removed. (5) Base Plate Base plate must not be altered in shape or size. (6) Butterflies Stock butterflies must not be thinned or tapered. Idle holes may be drilled in butterflies. Screw ends may be cut even with shafts, but screw heads must remain standard. (7) Throttle Shafts Shafts must remain standard and must not be thinned or cut in any manner. Only a Moroso #64965 unmodified carburetor adapter permitted. All air must enter engine through top of carburetor only. (f) Air Filter maximum size 14 inches outside diameter by 3 inches high. No flow enhancers or cold air boxes permitted. No notching of cowl, back of hood must seal to cowl top. K & N Filters permitted. (g) Electronic type HEI style distributor must be used in tandem with an MSD rev limiter. An electronic box fired ignition is also permitted. Only MSD 6A, 6AL, or 6 ALN boxes may be used. All motors will run a 6000 rpm chip. Track officials reserve the right to adjust chip rpm as necessary. The track can change out chips or boxes with their own at any time. (i) Gaskets used between carb. and adapter must be paper .065 inch maximum thickness. Maximum of two gaskets, carb to adapter, adapter to manifold. 2. Stock mounts may be replaced with solid mount, but may not relocate motor. 3. Stock factory production clutch and flywheel or minimum 7 inch multi disc racing clutches permitted. Only steel disc and plates permitted. All cars must use explosion proof steel safety bellhousing. MECHANICAL 1. Driveshaft. Driveshaft must be steel and painted white. Cars must have two 360 degree safety straps, one on front and one at rear of driveshaft. 2. Driveline. Transmissions must be OEM style cased 3 or 4 speed standard transmissions only, no Jerico or other race types permitted. All transmissions must have a minimum of two forward gears and one reverse gear. No gear ratio may be higher than 1.20 to 1, high gear must be one to one. No drop out type transmissions permitted. 3. Copper or aluminum radiators permitted. Must mount in original position. Cooling system catch can required. No anti-freeze permitted. 4. Electric cooling fans permitted. 5. Car must be in good mechanical condition, and equipped with operating self starters and working reverse. 6. Weight limit 3350 lbs. before or after race with driver. 52% left. Minimum front axle weight 54%. Added weight must be lead minimum of 5 lb. blocks and painted white. Your car number must be etched into all added weight blocks. No pellets! Added weight must be securely bolted inside the frame rails, behind front spindles and in front of rear axles. No weights inside the drivers compartment. WHEELS AND TIRES 1. Cars must have racing quality reinforced 15 x 8 steel wheels with oversized lug nuts. No tire bleeders. The track spec racing tire will be the Hoosier 970 26.5 x 8.0-15 & 27.0 8.0-15. All tires used in this division must be purchased from the Speedway. 2. Track width is a maximum 77 inches for 110 wheelbase cars and above,75 for 108 wheelbase cars, measured from bead flange to bead flange on the outside of wheels, the front is measured at the front of the wheels, the rear is measured at the rear of the wheels. The track gauge is the final word. SAFETY 1. Seats must be mounted in a secure fashion to a steel frame integrated into the roll cage structure. Aluminum seats are required with halo style headrest assemblies and leg supports 2. Belts must be of aviation type quick release and must consist of a lap belt, shoulder harness and sub strap. Belts must be minimum 3 AND NO MORE than three years old. Belts with no dates will be considered too old. Belts should be mounted as per manufacturers printed instructions. Anyone having to install new belts this year or in subsequent years must upgrade to a 6 or 7 point harness system. A SFI approved head and neck restraint device is recommended and will be required in 2010. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DRIVER, NOT NASCAR, TRACK OFFICIALS, OR THE PROMOTER, TO INSURE HIS/HERS PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, SEAT AND ALL SAFETY ITEMS ARE NASCAR APPROVED INSTALLED CORRECTLY, PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND PROPERLY USED. 3. A fire extinguisher of minimum 5 lbs. Must be carried in every car. Multiple discharge fire suppression or cold fire type systems highly recommended. Extinguisher must be mounted so as to be accessible to driver or actuating mechanism or remote systems must be mounted within driver s reach. 4. Only one battery permitted. Maximum 16 volts. Must be securely mounted outside of driver compartment. 5. A maximum 22 gallon fuel cell must be mounted in rear of car behind rear end assembly. Fuel cell must be NASCAR approved and mounted in minimum 20 gauge steel container. The container must be held in the car by a minimum of 2-1/8 x 2 steel straps front to back and a minimum of 2-1/8 x 2 steel straps side to side and must be a minimum of 8 from the track. 6. All drivers are required to wear a fire retardant driving suit with fire retardant underwear and gloves all in good condition. Full face helmets with a Snell rating of SA2000 or newer are required. |
